Welcome to The Luxe Box

General Info

Tucked away at The Luxe Box, this soul food spot delivers the kind of comfort food that feels both indulgent and deeply satisfying. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere leans casual and welcoming, making it a great choice whether you're stopping in for lunch or enjoying a quiet solo dining experience.

What stands out right away is how thoughtfully the menu is put together. It doesn’t try to overwhelm you with endless options-instead, it focuses on bold, hearty dishes done right. One of the highlights is the Mac N Cheese Yams & Oxtails. The richness of the oxtails pairs beautifully with the creamy mac and cheese, while the yams add a subtle sweetness that ties everything together. It’s the kind of plate that feels like a full experience, not just a meal.

Another dish that deserves attention is the Honey Glaze Salmon w Shrimp. The salmon comes out tender with a slightly crisp edge, coated in a glaze that’s sweet without being overpowering. Paired with shrimp, it adds a layer of flavor that feels both comforting and a bit elevated. It’s clear the kitchen puts care into balancing taste and texture.

If you’re leaning toward something even more indulgent, the Basa and Shrimp Mac N Cheese is hard to ignore. It’s creamy, rich, and packed with flavor, making it a favorite among regulars who come back specifically for that dish. It’s the kind of comfort food that leaves a lasting impression and often shows up in glowing reviews.

The space itself is accessible and easy to navigate, with a wheelchair accessible entrance that ensures everyone can enjoy the experience. Service is straightforward and friendly, which fits perfectly with the relaxed vibe of the location. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or taking your time, it never feels rushed.

And don’t skip dessert. Even if you’re full, there’s something about ending the meal on a sweet note that completes the whole experience. It’s a small detail, but it reinforces what The Luxe Box does best-creating meals that feel thoughtful, filling, and genuinely enjoyable from start to finish.

Overall, this Oakland diner brings together strong flavors, a focused menu, and a welcoming setting, making it a reliable go-to for anyone craving authentic soul food.

What customers say?

“ Honestly the best soul food I have had in years. Ox tail was the true meaning of tendernisim, and for 35 bucks, you can not beat it. mac and cheese was perfect, greens were on point, fire red beans and the shrimp, OMFG. These guys know what they are doing. An absolute must stop for authentic soul food. And they do catering or single plates. ”

“ Prefacing this with I am NOT from the area. First, I want to highlight the service. The young lady that was working the window today (Mar 20th) was so sweet and had a really positive attitude. This is important because, well, this is Oakland. The wait for the food will typically be about 30-40 minutes so I highly recommend placing your order online and picking up when the time nears. This is NOT a dine-in restaurant. You approach the window, grab your plate and GO. I love this model personally. Too many food service businesses try and do the bar/nightclub thing, sometimes it’s just too much. Also recommend keeping an eye on their instagram as they post when they’re sold out of something or if the hours are altered. This is a well-operated black-owned, small business and I had no hesitation spending my dollars here. Now for the food quality: I got the Basa fish combo. I wasn’t TOO crazy about the fish and wish it was fried harder which, i’m sure if you asked they’d accommodate. The flavor was there and it had some crunch. The shrimp was delicious. The star of the show, in my opinion were the YAMS and COLLARD GREENS. I’m from the South and it was really nice to have found a place out west that sells true soul comforting food. The Strawberry Passion luxenade was on point (THANK YOU for not making it taste like liquid diabetes!) Overall 8/10 Expect to spend about $40-$50. Again, the Quality is there. ”
